Sign Up to Support Extra Funding for our Schools Through the Children and Youth Behavioral Initiative (CYBHI)

We are pleased to share that Redondo Beach Unified School District is participating in the California Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI). This program allows RBUSD to receive reimbursement for certain behavioral health services that are already being provided to students at school, including screenings, assessments, classroom lessons, crisis response, counseling, and ongoing mental health support.

If your child is covered by insurance and you choose to participate, the District may seek reimbursement directly from your insurance provider for eligible services. There is no additional cost to families, and participation will not increase premiums, reduce benefits, or affect your child’s or family’s ability to access care outside of school in any way.

Your child’s privacy and the security of your family’s information are extremely important to us. Any health or personal information collected through this program will be securely stored and protected. Information will only be used for program purposes and will be shared strictly in accordance with federal and state privacy laws, including FERPA and HIPAA where applicable. RBUSD does not sell, trade, or use student data for any purpose outside of supporting student services.

Participation in CYBHI is completely voluntary. If you would like to participate, please complete this  FORM

If you choose not to participate, your child will continue to have full access to school counseling and behavioral health services. Services will never be denied based on participation.

This program helps us sustain and strengthen the mental health supports available to RBUSD students while keeping families protected and informed. If you have questions, please visit our CYBHI RBUSD webpage or contact District Counselor Rachel Andrews at RAndrews@rbusd.org. Ms. Julie Bassine, Administrative Assistant, may also reach out to families regarding participation and may reference this message.

We are seeking volunteers to serve on a School of Excellence Committee, helping our Jefferson PTA achieve a School of Excellence award from the National PTA in recognition of our efforts to make long-lasting impacts for our school community. We need help reviewing the results of the recently distributed School of Excellence survey to increase and improve family engagement in our school community. We anticipate 3 zoom meetings between December-May. Please email Danielle at outreach@jeffersonptarb.org if you are interested in serving on this committee. Thank you for your help!

Jefferson has launched a new Friendship Club at our school in partnership with the Friendship Foundation, the local nonprofit that hosts the annual Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk. Our Friendship Club is a once-a-month lunchtime club using games and activities to help students learn friendship building skills. If you have a student with special needs and/or social challenges who would benefit from extra practice with their peers, or if you have a student who wants to help their peers work on friendship skills, please invite them to check out our club. The club meets the 2nd Thursday of every month. We are requesting that each club member submit an application, but students can complete it after their first visit if preferred. We are requesting that each club member submit an application. We are also looking for parent volunteers to help facilitate the club. Contact specialed@jeffersonptarb.org for more information.
